Deborah Senn is an attorney and expert in insurance matters: health care, life insurance, long term care, auto, homeowners and pet insurance. Senn is also an international consultant on insurance regulation having recently traveled to Vietnam, Cambodia Serbia, Algeria, Kosovo, Bosnia and Paraguay.
Deborah Senn served two terms as Washington’s seventh insurance commissioner (1993-2001) and served as the first woman elected to the office. A strong consumer advocate, she was called “the best insurance commissioner in the United states.”
As Insurance Commissioner Senn:
- Adopted groundbreaking regulations to protect physicians in both their contract negotiations and billing process with insurers
- Was a national leader for access to insurance by the patients of complementary and alternative providers
- implemented key health insurance reforms to guarantee women direct access to ob/gyns.
- implemented the nation’s first regulations for environmental cleanup claims, and
- was the first U.S. Insurance Commissioner to call for regulatory action on behalf of Holocaust victims denied insurance benefits after World War II.
